The problem
Footbao is a football talent-discovery app. Young players download it, build a football profile, upload videos of their play, have those videos assessed and apply to openings at clubs. The store listings call it digital tryouts.
Footbao's team needed the app developed for its launch in Brazil and worldwide. We helped them develop it. The engagement started in August 2025 and continues today.
Its main market is Brazil, and Footbao's website describes expansion across Latin America. The audience is young. The same website says 31% of users are aged 13 to 15 and 47% are 16 to 24 (Footbao's own figures, September 2026). The app is rated 13+ on the App Store and Teen on Google Play.
It is a live consumer product. Google Play lists 500K+ downloads for the Android app (September 2026). The App Store lists the app as free, with Footbao Plus and Footbao Premium sold as in-app purchases. Google Play also lists in-app purchases.
For an engineering partner working with Footbao's team, that sets the job. Several things have to keep working at the same time: one app on two app stores, video upload from players' phones, club openings and applications, and in-app purchases. New work has to go out without breaking any of them.

What made it hard
One React Native app, two app stores
The app is built in React Native and published for iOS and Android. Changes have to work on both platforms and across a wide range of phones. Each store release also goes through Apple's and Google's review.
A product built around video
Players upload videos of their play from their phones, and those videos are what gets assessed. Footbao's website reports 103.3k videos received (Footbao's own figure, September 2026). Video is a heavier case than forms and text. The files are large, they are uploaded from phones, and they are played back in the app's feed.
Regular store releases
The App Store version history shows updates roughly every two to four weeks through 2026, and the latest release notes are identical on Google Play. The listings name no development supplier, so we point to them as evidence of the product's pace, not as a list of our work.
Performance work on a live app
Performance and optimisation is part of our scope, and it happens on an app people are already using. The September 2026 release notes (version 6.3.0) focus on this kind of work: smoother feed, search and profile screens, faster loading across search, opportunities and club pages, and fixes for video uploads, purchases and stability. Those notes are Footbao's own description of the release. They do not say who did the work, and we make no claim to specific items in it.
What we worked on
React Native app for iOS and Android
We helped Footbao's team develop the mobile app for its launch in Brazil and worldwide, and we still work on it. It is built in React Native and published on the App Store and Google Play. It is the product players use to build a profile, upload video and apply to club openings.

Backend and platforms
Our scope covers Footbao's backend and platforms as well as the mobile app. These systems are not publicly documented, so we do not describe them here.
Continuous product engineering
The engagement started in August 2025 and is ongoing. It is continuous work with Footbao's team on a live product, not a one-off project. We helped Footbao's team, so we do not list individual releases or features as ours.
Performance and optimisation
Part of our scope is performance and optimisation work on the live product. We do not publish figures for it here.

What the public record does not show
The store listings and Footbao's website do not name a development supplier. They are evidence of the product and its release pace. The scope on this page is stated by us.
